About the role

About Kandor Management

Kandor Management oversees a diverse group of facility-focused companies across Canada, uniting cleaning, security, and technology under one vision. We’re not your typical management team—we’re building something different: a people-first organization driven by innovation, service excellence, and community impact.

We live by five core values: Community First – Servant heart, respectful, pride of place, mindful. Not selfish.

Above and Beyond – Finishing touch, go the extra step, give more. Not average.

Accountability – Ownership mindset, do what we say, keep our word. No excuses.

Creative Initiative – Outside of the box thinking, proactive problem solving, resourceful. Not indifferent.

Be Awesome – Be prepared. Be well presented. Have a good attitude. Not a low vibe.

If these values resonate with you, keep reading.

About the Role

The Accounting Manager leads day-to-day accounting operations and oversees accurate financial reporting across multiple business units, while also developing, training, and upskilling the accounting team and cross-functional partners. This role owns the month-end close process and supports core accounting functions including revenue, invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger activity.

This is a hands-on, player coach role focused on maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring data integrity, and driving process improvements that support growth. While solid technical accounting skills are required, success in this role depends heavily on the ability to train, coach, document, and clearly explain accounting concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate is a CPA-designated accounting professional who understands how accounting connects to the broader business, takes pride in a clean and reliable close, and is motivated by building confident, capable teams—not just producing accurate numbers.

Key Responsibilities

Training, Coaching & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and train accounting team members, using a hands-on, supportive, and structured approach.
  • Develop and deliver onboarding and ongoing training for accounting processes, systems, and controls.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), job aids, and documentation to support consistency and learning.
  • Review work not just for accuracy, but as a coaching opportunity, providing clear feedback and guidance.
  • Build accounting capability across the organization by explaining financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Own and manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end deliverables.
  • Prepare and contribute to financial reporting packages and internal dashboards for senior leadership.
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and transparency in financial data across reporting periods.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities including invoicing, accounts payable, revenue accruals, and expense allocations.
  • Ensure accurate posting of transactions in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Reconcile key accounts including AR aging, accrued liabilities, deferred revenue, and intercompany balances.
  • Monitor and resolve discrepancies between accounting and operational systems.
  • Support ERP and system enhancements and transitions from legacy tools, with a focus on training and adoption.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Integrity

  • Partner with Sales, Operations, and Account Managers to validate billing, revenue, and collections data.
  • Support the end-to-end lead-to-cash process from contract through payment collection.
  • Act as a translator between Finance and Operations, helping teams understand financial requirements and impacts.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual work, and improve data quality.
  • Communicate financial insights clearly to support operational and leadership decision-making.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • CPA designation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 5+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience, including senior-level responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting and month-end close.
  • Demonstrated experience training, coaching, or onboarding others in accounting processes or systems.
  • Ability to clearly explain accounting concepts to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Experience in a multi-entity, service-based, or operationally complex environment is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; NetSuite and Monday.com experience.
  • Highly organized, patient, and detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Strong communicator who enjoys building clarity, consistency, and confidence in others.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on scalable, teachable processes.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience using AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, or scalability within accounting workflows is required.
  • Proven ability to integrate AI into daily work (e.g., reporting, reconciliations, analysis, documentation) and enable others to adopt these tools effectively.
