About the role
Primary Function:
The Business Process Excellence Manager serves as both a strategic and tactical leader. This role acts as a cross-functional leader working with SMEs in the business will be responsible for identifying, planning, building, and sustaining workflow and systems improvements across non-production departments at MAD. This can but not exclusively include Sales Quoting, Order Management, Project Management, Design Engineering, Purchasing, Configuring Digital Products, Customer Service, Marketing and related support functions.
The role focuses on analyzing current workflows, visualizing, documenting and simplifying internal processes true to our values, identifying inefficiencies thereby eliminating manual and non-value-added work, and implementing scalable smart, digital solutions — including automation and AI where appropriate. This is a hands-on role that requires taking ownership from problem identification to influencing and ensuring adoption and implementation for measurable results. This functional change manager will lead by doing, engaging stakeholders to future proof the business in various aspects and coaching leaders to design and improve their own workflows.
The ideal candidate is a results-focused professional who measures success in cost savings, efficiency gains, and improved workflows. This individual will combine strong business process and analytical skills, coupled with hands-on experience in ERP workflows, automation tools, and demonstrated AI application. Adaptable and resilient, able to handle resistance to change, detail oriented but able to see the big pictures to prioritize high impact changes. They must be able to independently driving change, communicate and present complex changes in simple terms while identifying high-impact opportunities, building practical solutions, and translating business needs into scalable, tech-enabled improvements.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Process Engineering or related field
- Lean Six Sigma Certification an asset (Green or Black Belt)
- 5 - 7 years of experience in business process improvement and optimization, operational excellence, or systems-based CI roles
- In depth experience understanding and working with ERP systems, including understanding of table structures, transactions, and logic
- Experience in Manufacturing an asset
- Hands-on experience with workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier, Airtable, or equivalent)
- Strong analytical skills using Excel (advanced), Power BI, SQL, or Python
- Comfortable leveraging automation and digital tools to optimize workflows
- Working knowledge of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, document parsing, prompt automation) and how to apply them in business processes
- Experience working with software developers or technical teams to define and deliver business tool enhancements
- Experience leading cross-functional digital transformation initiatives
- Cross-functional project leadership experience (order management, sales, supply chain)
- Excellent communication, documentation, and facilitation skills
- Experience in change management initiatives, training and rollout of new processes or system is a must
- Prosci Change Management or similar certification is an asset
- Clear Background Checks - Criminal

- Analyze, document, and improve administrative workflows with a focus on cycle time, accuracy, and scalability.
- Lead structured problem-solving events (e.g., Kaizen, DMAIC) across departments.
- Identify automation opportunities using AI tools, scripting, or RPA platforms.
- Help standardize tasks and reduce complexity across Quoting, Purchasing, Engineering, Finance, and other teams.
- Eliminate manual handoffs, duplicate work, and other non–value-added activities through process redesign and digital enablement.
Coaching and CI Enablement
- Engage and coach leaders and employees to continually identify inefficiencies to design and improve their own workflows and process.
- Influence with knowledge sharing of basic CI frameworks (e.g., waste identification, root cause analysis, process mapping) to non-CI teams.
- Facilitate team-driven mini-CI projects and workshops.
- Build and share simple CI templates, trackers, and guidance to help departments self-manage improvements.
- Demonstrate improvements through hands-on solution building, not just advisory support.
AI and Digital Tools Implementation
- Identify and implement automation opportunities using AI tools, scripting, or low-code platforms to streamline reporting, document processing, and communication workflows.
- Build or support internal solutions using Power Automate, Zapier, Notion, Airtable, or custom scripts.
- Lead training to help departments adopt AI tools that improve productivity, accuracy, and customer experience.
ERP and Systems Understanding
- Understand and improve how business workflows intersect with ERP transactions.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in ERP usage and propose process or configuration changes.
- Collaborate with IT or system vendors to scope and implement ERP enhancements.
- Collaborate with software developers to define requirements, write clear functional specs, and support implementation of new internal tools or system enhancements.
Data-Driven Decision Support
- Partner with data analysts to develop and maintain dashboards that track CI and departmental KPIs.
- Translate business data into clear insights and actionable improvement opportunities.
- Conduct regular reviews with teams to discuss performance and recommend next steps based on data.
Cross-Functional Engagement
- Facilitate process mapping and improvement workshops with cross-departmental teams.
- Document current state processes and lead the implementation of new or improved workflows.
- Communicate clearly with all levels of the organization to ensure buy-in and transparency.
Standardization and Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain a central repository of work Instructions, operating procedures, methodology, process maps, guidelines and workflow tools.
- Coach workgroups on Lean thinking, digital literacy, and effective use of systems.
- Promote a company-wide culture of continuous improvement, digital adoption, and accountability.
- Evaluate and recommend modern tools for documenting, managing, and sharing business processes across teams.
