Speech Language Pathologist - Odette Cancer Centre - Regular Full-Time - 2026-16900
About the role
Summary of Duties:
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre has an opportunity for a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide speech, swallowing and voice services to outpatients in the Odette Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with SLP staff, patients, families and inter-professional team members across multiple oncologic site groups.
Responsibilities include:

Triage, assess, and manage swallowing impairments arising from multiple cancer sites including (but not limited to) Lung, Breast, GI, CNS, H&N

Provide education/counselling for patients experiencing communication and/or swallowing difficulties and their caregivers

Support inpatient care as it relates to facilitating smooth and timely transition to the outpatient setting
-
Act as an SLP resource to the SLP team, the interprofessional team, families and students
-
Maintain patient records and workload measurement in accordance with facility and professional standards
-
Maintain and upgrade skills and knowledge through continuing education and seek opportunities for knowledge dissemination
-
Participate in SLP clinical education and interprofessional education activities

Participate in SLP Professional Council, Program and hospital-wide meetings, committees and planning as required
-
Practice in accordance with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
Qualifications/Skills:
- Current CASLPO registration
- Extensive clinical experience (5 years) required working with an Oncology caseload including Head and Neck patients in a contemporary acute care setting and outpatient environment
- Extensive independent experience with videofluoroscopic instrumental swallowing evaluation
- FEES instrumental evaluation experience an asset
- Experience with patients undergoing organ preservation treatment modalities preferred
- Experience with tracheostomy management required
- Demonstrated commitment to SLP student and interprofessional student education
- Demonstrated commitment to Person-Centred Care
- Excellent communication and time-management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively & efficiently as a member of intra- and interprofessional teams
- ADP authorizer status preferred
