About the role

Job Summary:
The Receiver/ Logistics Attendant performs various receiving/shipping, loading/unloading functions and related duties by operating a forklift and related lifting equipment to ensure items are received, shipped and handled correctly, stored properly and dispatched to the proper end users in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures. Performs picking, packing, distributing, delivering, stocking, physical count verification (cycle counting), cleaning, and tidying functions in stores and user areas.

Duties/Accountabilities:

  1. Receives items, identifies appropriate purchase order and prepares receiving reports for submission to finance and user departments. Records unidentified items and, where possible, directs the delivery to the correct person or department.

  2. Inspects all incoming goods for apparent damage, provides damage and variance reports, and takes pictures of damaged goods.

  3. Verifies number of pieces received against the bill of lading.

  4. Signs for goods received.

  5. Maintains file of shipping records by keeping a copy of all return goods memos.

  6. Performs order picking in Stores. Checks items and unit of issues for accuracy before filling orders.

  7. Enters customer orders using the material management system and picks orders by operating the carousel automated storage system.

  8. Packs and loads supplies for delivery.

  9. Rotates stock to ensure good dating.

  10. Verifies product and quantity received against requisition to ensure the right products in the right quantities are received.

  11. Puts away items to designated stocking locations. Reports variances to supervisors.

  12. Maintains work area in a clean, safe and orderly condition.

  13. Orders supplies for user areas by completing a requisition or using a handheld device.

  14. Monitors usages and reports problems to supervisor.

  15. Checks completed requisition for accuracy.

  16. Checks with users on daily supply needs.

  17. Stocks and maintains supplies in nursing and patient care areas by drawing stock from department supply / utility rooms.

  18. Picks up supplies from warehouse and/or sterile processing department as required.

  19. Updates user areas item labels when changes occur.

  20. Completes delivery records by obtaining user signature for deliveries.

  21. Delivers and picks up furniture, equipment, mail and parcels as required.

  22. Delivers and picks up perishable items and handles materials as per departmental policy, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods requirements.

  23. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience

  • Grade 12 plus one (1) year recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment
