What you’ll do

We are seeking a results-driven Manager, Planning & Engineering Wireless to lead a high-performing team responsible for end-to-end wireless planning, capacity design, and engineering enablement. In this pivotal role, you will translate strategic vision into actionable plans that optimize spectrum utilization, maximize CAPEX efficiency, and future-proof TELUS's wireless network. You will drive geospatial analytics and GIS insights to enhance data-driven decision-making and provide enhanced visibility for internal and external stakeholders.

Your mission

  • Planning the wireless network activities to meet strategic growth, performance, and coverage goals
  • Aligning network plans across RAN, Transport, and Core to ensure consistency and synergy in execution
  • Collaborating across stakeholder groups to balance priorities, funding requirements, and technology evolution
  • Leveraging Data and AI tools to generate insights, model scenarios, and continuously improve network investment decisions
  • Leading and Developing a high-performing planning and engineering team that embraces innovation and technical excellence

Here's How

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop and execute a clear strategic plan aligned with TELUS's wireless roadmap, integrating network capacity, coverage, and technology evolution
  • Partner with Finance and Strategy teams to align investment priorities with CAPEX targets

Technical Leadership

  • Guide spectrum and capacity modeling to inform RAN and Core investments
  • Oversee planning tools and automation development to enhance engineering efficiency
  • Collaborate with architects and design teams to evolve network topology and performance standards
  • Ensure planning data is accurate, consistent, and reflected across systems of record

Business Acumen & Innovation

  • Translate business requirements into actionable engineering plans
  • Provide reporting on coverage, utilization, and forecast accuracy to drive informed decision-making
  • Introduce advanced analytics, automation, and AI to streamline planning workflows
  • Encourage continuous improvement and technology adoption across the team

What you bring

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in wireless network planning, engineering, or design
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and large-scale network planning programs
  • Strong understanding of RAN, Spectrum, and Core network technologies
  • Experience with forecasting, simulation tools, and geospatial analytics
  • Expert communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Intermediate experience in AI, automation, and data visualization tools

Great-to-haves

  • Prior experience working in a telecom planning or engineering leadership role within TELUS or similar operators
  • Familiarity with 5G SA/NSA, Open RAN, and Edge network evolution
  • Experience with Appian, Carto, Looker, BigQuery for network data automation

Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.

Salary Range: $110,000-$166,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 20%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits such as:
