About the role
Directly responsible to the shift Supervisor of Fabrication/Packing. Communicates and collaborates with the other team leads & department supervisors to keep orders on time. Functionally responsible with all members of the fabrication & packing teams concerning day to day fabrication & packing activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Team Lead are detailed below, but not limited to the following:
- Ensure all team members are working safely & report any unsafe conditions or incidents to shift supervisor
- Start each shift on time and ensure all team members are present
- Ensure all team members are assigned jobs at shift start and throughout the shift
- Follow the fabrication and packing WIP reports each shift by due date
- Ensure all team members are performing quality checks / inspection as required
- Oversee staging of material according to the required location, re stock, Fab, packing, shipping, shunt,etc
- Oversee that all team members are following specific instructions according to customer requirements
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of Epics entries for all team members, highlighting variances
- Ensure QA receives samples for outside testing
- Notify scheduling and shift supervisor of incomplete orders
- Notify shift supervisor of significant scrap during your shift
- Responsible for reporting equipment malfunction to shift supervisor or maintenance team directly
- Ensure the saws are being run in a safe and efficient manner
- Responsible for ensuring run rates are adhered to as outlined by the work order - if run rates are not able to be met, immediately notify shift supervisor
- Ensure blades are making effective cuts and pieces are adhering to standards
- When operating the punch press, ensure drawings are carefully followed and validate setups are correct
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate any issues, priorities, etc
- Ensure pull stock orders are filled from correct stock order numbers according to FIFO
- Promote continuous cross-training and process improvement with-in team
- Ensure compliance to all quality & safety related policies, procedures and system requirements
- Participate in annual employee reviews
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
- Post-secondary education preferred, Grade 12 mandatory
- 3-5 years production experience in an industrial environment
- 2 years of experience in a lead hand role would be considered an asset
Technical Skills/Competence
- Understanding of measurements, tolerances, basic geometry, and numeracy comprehension
- Forklift certificate is an asset
- Must have good team building and motivational skills
- Should have a good command of English, written and oral
- 1-2 years of production and/or fabrication machining experience is an asset

The expected pay range for this position is $23.00-$27.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
