Position Overview:

Barnhart Canada is actively recruiting a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to work with our maintenance team in Bonnyville, AB. The heavy duty mechanic will be responsible for effectively performing maintenance and service of property, equipment, and vehicles.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Perform daily maintenance of property, equipment (trucks/trailers), and vehicles throughout the facility.
  • Inspect and evaluate operating conditions of equipment and vehicles.
  • Perform maintenance activities and modifies existing equipment and systems to keep the facility in good running order.
  • Read, understand, and follow hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical diagrams.
  • Ensure that all maintenance is completed in accordance with established department policies and safety regulations.
  • Attend training sessions to keep up to date with changes in technology.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Be a positive mentor.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, using hand and power tools.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications and NCSG's policies.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems.
  • Follow NCSG’s Safety rules and safe work practices.
  • Interpret work orders and technical manuals.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment alcohol & drug test.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working with heavy trucks, picker trucks, light duty fleet and various oilfield related trailers. Experience in Cummins Diesel engines is an asset.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision while being safety & team orientated.
  • Ability to think logically and keep up to date with changes in technology.
  • Capable of working outside, with most of the work in the shop.
  • Travel to off-site locations may be required.
  • Must provide your own tools.

Training & Safety Courses:

  • Licensed Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate.
  • CVIP Tech License.
  • Valid Class 5 License with clean commercial drivers abstract; Class 1 license is an asset.
