What You’ll Be Doing:
Transaction Adjudication & Authorization Support:
- Lead and oversee the review and assessment of transaction proposals at origination, post-origination, and scheduled surveillance activities. Balance credit/equity risks, non-financial risks, policy compliance, and strategic objectives across diverse product lines, providing expert guidance and recommendations to management.
Risk Analysis & Surveillance:
- Lead comprehensive risk assessments and credit/equity surveillance for transactions and portfolio oversight. Ensure precise risk quantification, valuations, construct surveillance tools and monitoring reports, setting standards for the team.
Valuation & Risk Mitigation:
- Evaluate risk mitigants, structures, collateral, contractual documentation, transaction risk ratings, and valuation of equity investments. Develop a deep understanding of FinDev Canada’s portfolio to assess trends, early warning signs, and propose risk mitigation strategies and opportunities for portfolio optimization.
Transaction Summaries & Recommendations:
- Prepare comprehensive transaction authorization summaries and recommendations. Contribute to informed decision-making processes that align with strategic goals and risk management frameworks and policies, demonstrating strong attention to detail and influencing high-level decisions.
Risk Management Support:
- Share extensive knowledge of risk management and credit structuring with team members and business partners. Provide expert guidance on deal structures, risk acceptability, and policy interpretation.
Guideline Development Support:
- Lead the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines by providing insights and recommendations. Ensure credit practices remain robust and forward-thinking, setting practices in alignment with industry best practices.
What We Are Looking For
Must Haves:
- Master’s Degree with a specialization in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years combined experience in credit, equity, and risk management functions in the context of emerging & developing markets across diverse sectors
- Advanced experience in a financial institution and deep product knowledge, including term loans, revolving loans, trade facilities, syndicated loans, equities, funds, bonds, grants, parallel loans and guarantees
- Advanced experience reading and interpreting financial statements with strong risk analysis and quantification skills, experience developing risk management policies and limits, experience managing or overseeing a diverse transaction portfolio
- Advanced knowledge of capital risk management, risk models, stress testing, scenario analysis, and portfolio monitoring.
- Advanced knowledge of risk governance best practices based on 3LD principles, including committee structures, approval processes, delegations of authority, and escalation procedures
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills.
- Language Profile: Fluency in both official languages (English & French).
Nice to Haves:
- Prior experience working specifically at a development finance institution (DFI) or a multilateral development bank (MDB)
