The Manitoba government is seeking a highly motivated Facility Manager for operations within the Asset Management Division in Thompson.
The Manitoba Government has a comprehensive benefit package which includes extended health care, health spending account, dental care, vision care, long-term disability insurance, group life insurance, maternity/paternity leave, family-related leave, and a defined pension plan (some pension plans allow for portability between the Civil Service Superannuation Board and employers).

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Full Stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s licence without restrictions.

  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the province with overnight stays as required.

  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including sitting for periods of time, walking, heavy lifting, pushing and pulling. Working in confined spaces, at heights, crouching, climbing, and wearing personal protective equipment.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Technical Certification with a major trade designation, such as a 5th Class Power Engineering certificate, post secondary certificate/diploma in facility/property management or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in facility management, operations, and maintenance, including HVAC operation and maintenance, security systems, life safety systems, and direct digital control systems.
  • Experience with supervision, leadership and coaching of staff.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures and relevant safety policies and legislation, such as Manitoba’s Workplace Safety and Health Act and associated regulations, and WHMIS.
  • Knowledge of building and fire codes, and other relevant legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships at all levels.
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Desired:

  • Strong budgeting and financial skills, forecasting, monitoring and reporting skills.

Duties:

Under the direction of the District Property Manager, the Facility Manager is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the provincially-owned and leased buildings and grounds, including human resources functions, budget and capital assets, ensuring that the client departments have a safe, clean and comfortable area in which to carry out their programs.
