Position Overview:

Join Finning and play a critical role in ensuring product reliability and process excellence across Exchange remanufacturing and production environments. This position offers:

As a Component Reliability Analyst (internally referred to as Senior Technical Lead), you’ll perform root cause investigations, develop technical documentation, and support production processes to drive operational excellence and innovation.

For this position, the expected base salary is between $80,000 and $90,000 / year.

Job Description:

  • Conduct root cause analysis of component failures and document findings with detailed technical reports and photos.
  • Perform failure analysis and warranty validation using Caterpillar systems (SiSWeb, SIMSi, PSCRM, ETQ, ERP).
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, checklists, and service literature updates.
  • Support salvage operations by assisting with tooling design, fabrication, and testing for Exchange components.
  • Collaborate with OEM Technical Services, Caterpillar, and internal teams on NPI and process improvements.
  • Maintain service literature databases and implement technical updates from Caterpillar.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and participate in hazard analysis and safety meetings.

Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Disassemble and inspect failed components to determine root cause.
  • Capture detailed photos and notes for technical reporting.
  • Update and maintain technical documentation and service literature.
  • Use Caterpillar systems to validate warranty claims and record failure data.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to internal teams and OEM partners.
  • Support production with salvage engineering and tooling improvements.
  • Participate in safety meetings and complete hazard assessments.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and submit suggestions through established systems.

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Industrial discipline is an asset.
  • Previous experience in failure analysis.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and documentation development.
  • Advanced root cause analysis skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Previous Caterpillar dealership experience is an asset.

Important:

  • This position is based out of our Prince George shop.
  • Permanent, full-time role.
  • Monday – Friday, 5x2 shift.
