Project Engineer
Position Description:
Reporting to the Projects Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for supporting both underground and surface operations through the evaluation, design, and execution of capital and operational projects. This role develops cost benefit justifications, prepares project plans and ensures safe and efficient implementation. The incumbent will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to optimize designs for safety, efficiency, and cost, while contributing to the site’s continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, evaluation, design, and execution of capital and operational projects from concept to completion.
- Develop cost/benefit justifications and financial analyses for proposed capital projects.
- Prepare project scopes, budgets, and schedules; track progress and report on performance metrics.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external engineering consultants to optimize project designs for safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee and support project implementation to ensure compliance with technical standards, safety requirements, and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and efficiency gains across site infrastructure and operations.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Participate in regular meetings to provide project updates and maintain communication with key operational stakeholders. Ensure all work aligns with safety standards, environmental commitments, and core values.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an underground mining operation.
- Open pit experience considered an asset.
- Strong project management and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement. Preference for candidates residing locally and able to work a 4 days on / 3 days off schedule.
