We are currently hiring a Reliability Production Unit (PU) Representative to support our Firebag Fly‑In/Fly‑Out (FIFO) operation, where your expertise will directly impact safety, reliability, and production performance. In this exciting role, you will serve as the primary reliability engineering contact within the Production Unit (PU), working hand‑in‑hand with operations, maintenance, and reliability teams to solve complex equipment challenges and drive meaningful improvements across the site.

Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of experience with heavy industrial and/or production equipment, including at least 2 years in a formal or informal technical leadership role (preferably within a unionized environment)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; must be a Professional Engineer or eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
- Demonstrated multi‑disciplinary engineering expertise to support production unit reliability and lead Management of Change (MOC) activities in a structured, disciplined manner
- Proficient in CMMS (SAP) for entering, extracting, and analyzing maintenance and reliability data
- Strong knowledge of Canadian/Alberta Occupational Health & Safety standards
- A valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record
Key Accountabilities:
- Serve as the primary reliability engineering contact for the PU, partnering with operations, maintenance, and reliability teams to resolve safety and production‑impacting issues
- Support/lead equipment selection, design, and installation, and develop maintenance and reliability strategies using CMMS (SAP), DCS, and AMS data to drive failure analysis and root‑cause elimination
- Steward Management of Change (MOC) initiatives, support planning and scheduling activities, and build business cases for equipment improvements
- Develop and support engineering scope for turnarounds and major outages, acting as the reliability lead to achieve outage milestones and optimize plant performance
Location & other key details:
- You will work out of our Firebag location, which is our largest in situ operation and one of the largest in the world (and located 120 km northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta)
- This is a Fly-in/Fly-out (FIFO) camp-based position; you will FIFO from a Suncor hub location: Calgary/Edmonton, Alberta or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
- The position will be on a 4x3 shift schedule (Monday-Thursday); 10 hr shifts with potential for extended work hours based on business needs
- This position is safety sensitive
- Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
