The Ottawa Senators are seeking a Analyst, Revenue and Commissions, who thrives on organization, accuracy, and building processes that keep our revenue flowing and our teams rewarded. This is an excellent opportunity to join an NHL franchise in a customer-focused position which will allow the candidate to become fully engaged in the business of a major league sports team.
Job Summary
The Analyst, Revenue and Commissions plays a key role in ensuring accurate revenue accounting, commission calculations, and financial reporting. The role works closely with revenue-generating departments such as Sales and Corporate Partnerships, to help drive the business forward. The successful candidate is highly detail-oriented, eager to learn, a strong communicator, and is passionate about sports and teamwork.
Main Responsibilities

Ensure the completeness and accuracy of contracts and summary billings, including appropriate revenue treatment

Record revenue for all revenue streams in the general ledger

Maintain general ledger accounts relating to revenue, deferred revenue, and unbilled amounts

Own the commissions process including the development of annual commission plans and calculation of monthly commissions for sales teams

Prepare month-end journal entries, reconciliations, contract schedules and analysis on schedule and without error

Analyze year-to-date actuals compared to budget, and prepare monthly and annual forecasts

Develop productive, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders Work collaboratively with the Corporate Sales Department and other departments to proactively manage and resolve business and operational issues in an innovative, efficient and effective manner

Prepare required reporting to NHL or governing bodies

Assist with providing supporting documentation to external auditors

Regularly review accounting functions and revenue systems for process improvement to help drive efficiency

Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies

Other adhoc projects as assigned
Job Requirements

Minimum 3 years previous experience in accounting with an emphasis on financial accounting/accounts receivable collections/treasury
-
Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field
-
Keen to adapt to a dynamic business environment, balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
-
Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
-
Working knowledge of general accounting principles and online banking systems
-
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
-
Excellent attention to detail
-
Desire to continuously optimize processes
-
General awareness of PCI standards pertaining to security of credit card information
-
Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central and/or Ticketmaster ticketing system is an asset

This role falls within a base salary range of $57,700 to $88,500 annually, consistent with the organization’s established salary ranges. Salary ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to market data, internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skillset.
