If you love keeping a space running smoothly and enjoy being the steady hand that guides a team, this role with our Parks, Recreation and Culture department is right up your alley! As the Assistant Facility Supervisor, you will be the go‑to person supporting the facility’s operations. In this position, you’ll supervise the work of part‑time staff, help uphold and enforce policies and safety standards, and make sure the environment stays welcoming, organized, and well‑managed. You’ll also connect with a variety of internal and external partners, becoming a key point of communication for all things facility‑related. We’re looking for someone who’s confident making independent decisions within established guidelines, but also knows when to loop in a supervisor for the trickier stuff. The incumbent will establish and maintain liaison with user groups and other Municipal staff regarding the use, availability and preparation of the facility for the events; coordinate the set-up of equipment, and related services to meet user requirements. Your success will shine through in the quality of service delivered to the public. Our ideal candidate’s qualifications will include completion of a Community Recreation or related program from a recognized Community College plus some related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of methods, materials, equipment and practices used in the operation of a facility. Working knowledge of the regulations governing the layout of a variety of sports field areas. Ability to plan, assign, schedule, supervise, and review the work of a group of subordinates engaged in custodial, facility events set up, and to train and evaluate the work of such staff. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and deal tactfully and diplomatically with a variety of internal and external contacts related to the work. A Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
Pay Rate:$30.70 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2024 Rates)
$32.88 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2026 Rates)
**Location:**Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West and Swangard Stadium
**Hours of work:**This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on-call shifts. Typical shifts will be Thursday to Monday between 5:30am – 11:30pm including statutory holidays and requires the opening and or closing of facilities during the event season (March to October).
