Could It Be You? The Securities Lending Analyst mitigates financial, regulatory, and reputational risks by executing foundational daily operational, clearing, and reconciliation tasks. Operating as the essential administrative engine of the desk, this role coordinates transaction lifecycles, monitors daily settlements, and resolves standard contract breaks to ensure seamless third-party clearing services and absolute compliance with internal SLAs.

The Securities Lending Analyst provides essential operational and administrative support to both the Securities Lending and Securities Finance desks. The position requires active, hands-on participation in the daily transaction lifecycle, serving as the first point of contact for internal stakeholders and third-party clearing operations. Using structured problem-solving and established procedural guidelines, the incumbent works collaboratively with Treasury, Risk, and clearing partners to identify, escalate, and resolve routine processing breaks, safeguarding the firm's daily operational integrity.
The responsibilities of the Securities Lending Analyst are as follows
- Sourcing & Trading Execution Support Settlement Coordination: Support the daily settlement of securities lending and borrowing trades by tracking movements, updating static data parameters, and communicating with clearing partners. Repays & Returns: Coordinate daily repay/return transactions, ensuring physical cash flows align with synthetic contract values. Trade desk Liaison: Communicate real-time settlement updates, recall risks, and inventory blocks to the active Trade Desk to resolve execution inquiries.
- Desk Operations & Inventory Management Contract & Compare Reconciliations: Perform daily contract-and-compare reconciliations, identifying and resolving systemic trade breaks. Collateral Monitoring: Review cash and non-cash collateral mark-to-market valuations for operational accuracy and completeness. Recall & Buy-In Administration: Manage standard recalls, buy-ins, and physical settlements, executing processes in strict compliance with industry rules. System Parameter Controls: Monitor and review Loanet profit center activity to ensure accurate risk coding and accounting entries.
- Data Analytics & Process Automation Support Reporting Assistance: Compile, format, and distribute daily availability files, rate-sheet records, and month-end billing datasets. Process Review: Actively monitor existing processing queues to identify operational bottlenecks and participate in brainstorming sessions for procedure optimization. UAT Participation: Assist in writing test scenarios and executing test cases during software upgrades or trading system migrations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Compliance Escalation Management: Serve as the initial point of escalation for internal departments and external operational counterparties, working to resolve transactional disputes. Corporate Reporting Support: Provide accurate, timely feedback and transactional reports to Treasury, Risk, Finance, and Compliance as requested. Administrative Onboarding: Assist with administrative billing tasks, monthly P&L calculations, and the onboarding verification of new counterparties.

Education & Experience Education: Post-secondary degree/diploma in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience. Experience: 1 to 2 years of professional experience in middle-office brokerage operations, clearing services, or capital markets settlements.
Technical Skills & Savvy
Analytical Tools: Strong intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (nested formulas, pivot tables) and Google Suite. System Exposure: Familiarity or willingness to learn core custody, billing, and clearing platforms (such as BPS, Arrow, CDS, DTC, Loanet, HELIX, and APEX). Process Orientation: Strong detail-orientation with a structured approach to managing high-volume data-entry tasks.
Core Industry Knowledge
Lifecycle Basics: Foundational understanding of the lifecycle of a capital markets trade, specifically clearing, settlement, and cash custody. Asset Understanding: General familiarity with capital market instruments and the basic concepts of borrowing, lending, and collateral. Certifications: Willingness to enroll in or complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) to build broader technical expertise.
Soft Skills & Attributes
Task Management: Strong organizational and time-management skills; comfortable balancing multiple administrative tasks simultaneously. Effective Communication: Clear, polite verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain highly collaborative relationships with third-party service bureaus. Team Synergy: Collaborative mindset with a willingness to assist with ad-hoc operational requests and share workload burdens under pressure.
Compensation Information
Base salary range: $108,000 - $116,000 The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada).
