Customer Connects Manager
About the role
SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Customer Connects Manager provides engineering services and customer relationship management in support of the connection of new customer facilities. This position works closely with customers and internal departments to ensure that system and customer needs are met through the execution of new capital projects. This position identifies facility recommendations to address both system needs and customer facility requests for new or existing facilities, and ensures safe, reliable, and cost-effective system operation and timely integration of new assets to meet current and future customer demand. This includes specialized engineering activities and technical support related to project identification, execution, and the recommendation of cost-effective business solutions to support departmental and corporate objectives.
Position Details
- Non-union. This position is temporary full time for up to 18 months.
Key Accountabilities
- Actively manage relationships of key TransGas customers to gather customer intelligence, ensure customer satisfaction, forecast customer growth, and ensure that all required facilities are in-service in accordance with customer timelines.
- Facilitate the connection of new or upsized TransGas customers to transmission and/or distribution system(s), ensuring natural gas services are available for their unique business requirements; this includes a focus on facilitating conversations, understanding their business processes and presenting information to customers.
- Present information to customers and create dialogue regarding determination of optimal solutions; acting as a customer advocate within SaskEnergy; updating customers so they understand facility costs, routing options, and timelines for all parties to make prudent business decisions.
- Negotiate construction contracts with customers; administer customer invoices for capital projects, track customer contributions, ensure as-built project reconciliation, and facilitate the up-front and deferred application of TransGas investment.
- Prepare, communicate and present plans, business cases, system analysis and recommendations to internal and external groups regarding long term transmission and storage operational plans, major system outages, new customer facilities or system facilities and major changes in system operation.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement changes as necessary to ensure efficient, streamlined execution of required tasks, using business analytics to improve the quality of decisions and recommendations.
- Analyze transportation, compression, storage, and distribution operations to evaluate system performance.
- Provide technical support (guidance, instruction, modeling) to Gas Control, Operations, Engineering and customers regarding system capacity, operation, new facility solutions and system optimization, as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, or Petroleum preferred).
- Professional Engineer designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
- Ten (10) years of engineering experience related to the planning, design and construction of pipeline and facilities in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with hydraulic analysis software and facility design of natural gas pipeline systems would be considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to build, manage and foster relationships both across the organization and with external parties.
- Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
- Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
- A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
- The job is safety sensitive, and as such, is subject to the provisions of the Drug and Alcohol Policy (Pre-Employment or Pre-Placement for Safety Sensitive Positions).
