About Mount Milligan Mine
Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an Trade, HVAC to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.
This role operates on a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided.
The Trade, HVAC plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across a surface hard rock mining and milling site. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems and equipment, supporting both production and support operations. They apply technical expertise in refrigeration, electrical diagnostics, and preventative maintenance while contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
HVAC Systems Maintenance & Repair
- Operate and maintain HVAC systems in accordance with site and industry standards.
- Install HVAC components using proper techniques and handle refrigerants safely and responsibly.
- Diagnose faults in refrigeration systems and perform necessary repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Perform equipment repairs both in the field and in the maintenance shop.
Preventative & Predictive Maintenance
- Conduct scheduled Preventative Maintenance inspections on HVAC systems and components.
- Identify potential issues before failure and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain records of inspections and service history to support reliability tracking.
Safety & Compliance
- Actively participate in site safety meetings, hazard assessments, and safety initiatives.
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and PPE requirements.
- Ensure HVAC systems comply with environmental and occupational health standards.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with other trades and departments to support integrated maintenance efforts.
- Provide input on system upgrades and process improvements.
Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately document all work performed, including diagnostics, repairs, and parts used.
- Write clear and concise reports detailing problems found and actions taken.
- Maintain service logs and update maintenance management systems as required.
Other Duties
- Perform other responsibilities related to the HVAC Technician role as required or assigned.
- Support training and mentoring of apprentices or junior technicians when applicable.
- Assist with inventory tracking and ordering of HVAC-related parts and supplies.
About You
The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:
- Completion of technical training in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Red Seal Certification
- Valid class 5 driver’s licence
- Minimum 3+ years of HVAC experience in a mining, industrial, or remote site environment.
- Experience working with heavy-duty HVAC systems in rugged or extreme conditions.
- Familiarity with mobile equipment HVAC systems (e.g., haul trucks, loaders) is an asset.
- Proficiency in HVAC system operation and installation techniques
- Knowledge of refrigerant handling and leak detection
- Ability to troubleshoot refrigeration and air conditioning systems
- Experience in electrical diagnostics and repair of HVAC equipment
- Competence in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system maintenance
- Skilled in the safe use of hand tools and maintaining a personal tool kit
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate across departments.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Working Conditions
- Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7x7, 12 hours per day
- Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration
- Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
