The Opportunity

We are looking for a Roll-Off Driver to join our team at our scrap yard located at our head office in Olds, Alberta. This is a full-time role with a Monday to Friday schedule.

As a Roll-Off Truck Driver, you'll play a key role in our daily operations, responsible for the safe and timely transportation of scrap bins to and from the scrap yard and customer sites. Each day brings something different — from interacting with customers to navigating industrial yards, your time will be spent on the road and in the yard, keeping materials and business moving.

How you’ll spend your time

  • Providing excellent customer service and communicating with customers.
  • Driving roll-off trucks to deliver and pick up scrap containers at customer sites, job sites, and our yard.
  • Loading, securing, and unloading containers safely and efficiently.
  • Communicating with dispatch and customers to coordinate schedules and delivery instructions.
  • Navigating farmyards, industrial yards, construction sites, and tight spaces with care and precision.
  • Performing daily vehicle inspections and completing required documentation.
  • Maintaining a clean and professional truck, both inside and out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Operate roll-off trucks to deliver and pick up containers from customer sites and job locations.
  • Safely load, secure, and transport scrap materials in compliance with DOT and company safety policies.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Communicate with dispatch and customers to coordinate routes and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and logs related to pickups and deliveries.
  • Assist in the yard as needed, including unloading and staging containers.
  • Uphold a clean and professional appearance of the truck and yourself.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental guidelines at all times.
  • Work in loud, dusty, or dirty environments as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years Class 1 A driving experience with a manual transmission is required.
  • Prior experience in a scrap yard, recycling center, or industrial setting considered an asset.
  • Experience operating or working around heavy equipment considered an asset.
  • Excellent communicator who works best in a team environment and enjoys customer service.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Physical fitness is required with the ability to lift 50lbs or more, climb ladders, walk long distances, frequent bending and picking up objects off the ground etc.

This position requires candidates to

  • Have and maintain a valid Class 1 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screening including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Successfully complete a background check.
