What this job involves:
JLL is hiring a Lead Building Operator for a prominent client who is a global leader in high speed connectivity. Their Ottawa operations boast a showcase campus which includes a flagship R&D centre in Kanata. The Senior FM has managerial oversight for the entire campus and leads the facilities operations team.
We will leverage your expertise in maintaining critical environments to ensure smooth operations 24/7 and to lead the on-site building operations team and vendors.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Supervise and direct maintenance staff while monitoring performance, providing training on proper procedures, safety protocols, and maintaining professional standards
Execute preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, and control systems with minimal disruption to building operations
Manage service requests efficiently ensuring quality work completion, adequate cleanup, and minimal inconvenience to clients and tenants
Oversee inventory and procurement including ordering parts/equipment, preparing purchase orders, verifying deliveries, and maintaining tool/instrument inventory
Monitor and evaluate vendors/contractors for quality and competitive pricing while ensuring compliance with safety standards and proper hazardous material handling
Analyze operational data through monthly service request summaries to identify and correct recurring problems and improve building performance
Coordinate event support activities including setup/teardown, electrical and AV support, and collaboration with security teams as needed
Required Qualifications:
7 + years of building operations experience in a critical environment
Proven supervisory experience
High School diploma or GED equivalent, with two years in trades or BES program
Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required
Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel and outlook for e-mail
The individual in this role must be available for Call-in/On call rotation work and perform other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ontario Operating Engineers license preferred
