Overview Reporting to the Director and taking work direction from the Senior HR Business Partners and the Talent Acquisition Specialist. The Generalist is responsible for a variety of HR processes and functional areas. This position works to ensure optimal service, delivery, and clear and transparent information is provided to all stakeholders. Key duties include supporting the recruitment function, employee and labour relations, report generation, sourcing HR data, supporting learn at lunches, coordinating training courses and other ad-hoc HR tasks to support the team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide HR Generalist support to the Senior HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition Specialist and HR Business Analyst - preparing correspondence, running and processing confidential reports and documents, and arranging meetings to ensure quality HR service delivery
  • Perform other support duties and provide backup to ensure seamless HR service and delivery
  • Manage recruitment initiatives that include participating in interviews, job postings, candidate screening, reference checks, job offers, onboarding, advertisement, and attending external job fairs, interview bookings
  • Provide compensation support, preparing salary calculations
  • Coordinate training sessions (ie mental health at work), and support learn at lunches
  • Participate and support cross-functional activities to promote information sharing and raise awareness on current initiatives or other relevant divisional matters
  • Prepare other ad-hoc HR functions, including data collection, report generation and research

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Business, Human Resources Management, related discipline or equivalent. CHRP is an asset
  • 4 years’ experience in Human Resources including recruitment and selection, employee and labour relations, and HR data analysis within a unionized environment
  • 2 years’ experience working with HRIS systems, generating reports, providing support to end-users
  • Understanding and working knowledge of records management, HRIS systems, collective agreements, employment/labour relations, job evaluation, compensation, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, privacy legislation and benefit plans
