Position Overview
Canstar is looking for a motivated and people-focused Human Resources Coordinator to join our growing team. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role provides a broad range of HR support across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training and development, and health and safety.
The HR Coordinator plays a key role in shaping the employee experience by supporting managers, guiding employees, and helping ensure HR programs and processes run smoothly. This position is ideal for an early-career HR professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and contributing to a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to multiple areas of Human Resources while working closely with leadership and supporting teams across several locations.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and candidate communication.
- Develop engaging job postings that attract high-quality candidates.
- Conduct reference and background checks and assist with preparing employment offers.
- Coordinate and deliver new employee orientation and onboarding programs to ensure a positive and welcoming start for new hires.
- Ensure all required certifications, documentation, and pre-employment requirements are completed prior to start dates.
- Maintain and update job descriptions to reflect evolving roles within the organization.
- Conduct regular check-ins with new employees to support integration and engagement.
Employee Relations & Workplace Support
- Act as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers by providing guidance on policies, procedures, and HR-related questions.
- Support managers with employee relations matters, performance conversations, and documentation.
- Assist in coordinating and administering the company’s bi-annual performance review process.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.
Policy, Compliance & HR Administration
- Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures to ensure alignment with best practices and applicable legislation.
- Support compliance with federal and provincial employment legislation, including the BC Employment Standards Act.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
- Assist with HR reporting, tracking key metrics, and maintaining HR systems and files.
Training & Development
- Coordinate employee training and professional development initiatives across the organization.
- Maintain training records and monitor required certifications and renewals.
- Work with managers to identify training needs and schedule appropriate learning opportunities.
- Support the development and administration of internal training programs, including Canstar University.
- Assist with managing available training grants and subsidy programs.
Communication & Employee Engagement
- Prepare and distribute internal communications such as new hire announcements and HR updates.
- Coordinate with third-party training providers to schedule courses and certifications.
- Create and distribute the company’s monthly internal newsletter.
- Contribute to employee engagement initiatives
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Promote a culture of safety by following company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Encourage safe work practices across all locations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Human Resources role or related field.
- CPHR designation or active candidacy is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of the BC Employment Standards Act and WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Detail-oriented with strong administrative and coordination skills.
- Self-motivated with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Experience in the restoration or construction industry is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, daytime shifts, with flexible start and end times.
- Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs.

The restoration of property and structures is very technical. The Lydale team go the extra mile to ensure customers and all persons involved understand the process, and what can be restored or must be replaced, while utilizing green technologies and the latest industry approved equipment.
