It is the only specialized healthcare facility for infants, children and youth in central and northern Alberta and has among the highest inpatient volumes of any children’s hospital in Canada.\nUnit 4E4 is a 25-bed unit accepting patients from birth to 18 years of age. Patient populations on 4E4 may include general pediatric medicine, neurology, metabolic, nephrology, pulmonary/respiratory, mental health and overflowing oncology, hematology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and general surgery.\nAs a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse on 4E4 provides leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for the mentioned populations under both, University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) and Stollery Children’s Hospital, policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse practices to full scope as defined by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).\nWithin the Medicine Program at the Stollery, there are opportunities for professional growth, which include participation in unit-based safety/education sessions, senior skill certifications, unit quality councils, as well as broader AHS initiatives. Staff within the Medicine Program will be cross trained to support both medicine units 4E4 and 5G4, and potentially other pediatric inpatient units (4C, 4D, 4E3) within the Stollery as required.\n\n## Description:\nAs a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.\n\n### PLEASE NOTE:\nProvisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.\n\n- Classification: Registered Nurse (2022.75)\n- Union: United Nurses of Alberta\n- Unit and Program: 4E4 Pediatric Medicine\n- Primary Location: Stollery Children's Hospital\n- Location Details: As Per Location\n- Multi-Site: At (UNA only)\n- FTE: 1.00\n- Posting End Date: 21-AUG-2025\n- Temporary Employee Class: Temporary Full Time\n- Date Available: 01-SEP-2025\n- Temporary End Date: 28-FEB-2026\n- Hours per Shift: 11.63\n- Length of Shift in weeks: 12\n- Shifts per cycle: 40\n- Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends\n- Days Off: As Per Rotation\n- Minimum Salary: $43.26\n- Maximum Salary: $59.21\n- Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable\n\n## Required Qualifications:\n- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.\n- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).\n- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).\n- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)\n\n## Additional Required Qualifications:\n- Successfully pass the Stollery PEARS course (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization Course), completed in orientation.\n- Successfully pass the Stollery Medication Administration exam (pass 90%).\n- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.\n- Excellent written and verbal communication.\n- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, problem-solving, organizational skills, and effective time management.\n- Strong decision-making, assessment, and critical thinking skills.\n- Ability to adapt and work within a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment with competing responsibilities.\n\n## Preferred Qualifications:\n- Experience with children with tracheostomies, peritoneal dialysis, and medically fragile patient populations is considered an asset.\n- Connect Care training and experience are considered an asset.\n\n## Please note:\n_All postings close at 23:59 MT of the posting end date indicated.\n\n## Security Screening:\n_A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work.
