Environmental Coordinator

Role Overview

Reporting to the Health Safety & Environment Manager, the Environmental Coordinator will support environmental compliance, reporting, monitoring programs, and sustainability initiatives. The Environmental Coordinator is a key role in maintaining and enhancing our environmental performance in line with provincial and federal regulations, as well as corporate standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), anaerobic & sludge dewatering department and air pollution control equipment.
  • Provide recommendations and support to operations departments and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot & analyze environmental equipment operating problems &/or equipment failures.
  • Monitor, collect, and analyze environmental data (e.g., water, air, effluent, and solid waste).
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate environmental sampling programs and maintain sampling equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in third-party inspections.
  • Promote environmental awareness and provide training to operational staff.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and projects that enhance environmental performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
