Our client is an innovative technology organization delivering advanced solutions across aerospace, defence, drones, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, government, security, and advanced technologies. As the organization continues to expand across Canada, the United States, and international markets, it is seeking an accomplished sales executive to accelerate business growth, develop strategic partnerships, and expand its presence within government and commercial sectors.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Sales, Aerospace & Government Programs will lead strategic business development and executive customer engagement across Canada, the United States, Europe, and selected international markets. The successful candidate will identify new opportunities, secure strategic contracts, build long-term customer relationships, and establish partnerships that support the organization's continued growth. This role is focused on executive sales leadership, government business development, strategic account management, and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Strategic Sales
Develop and execute a strategic sales and business growth plan targeting aerospace, defence, military, government, public sector, and enterprise organizations. Build executive relationships with government agencies, military organizations, aerospace companies, prime contractors, procurement officials, and strategic industry partners. Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities involving aerospace technologies, autonomous systems, AI-enabled solutions, defence technologies, advanced manufacturing, security, and mission-critical systems. Lead complex government and commercial procurement opportunities, including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, standing offers, tenders, and multi-year contracts. Develop and execute strategic account plans to expand existing customer relationships while identifying new business opportunities. Collaborate with Executive Leadership, Engineering, Product Management, and technical teams to develop customer-focused solutions and competitive proposals. Lead executive presentations, customer meetings, pricing discussions, commercial negotiations, and contract negotiations. Represent the organization at industry conferences, aerospace events, defence exhibitions, customer meetings, and international trade missions. Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with technology providers, system integrators, channel partners, government organizations, and industry associations. Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, forecasting process, CRM reporting, and executive sales metrics. Monitor industry trends, government funding initiatives, procurement opportunities, competitive activities, and emerging technologies. Consistently achieve annual revenue, sales, partnership, and market expansion objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in aerospace, defence, government, enterprise, or advanced technology sales. Demonstrated success selling complex technology, engineering, software, hardware, AI, aerospace, defence, or autonomous solutions. Strong understanding of government procurement, proposal development, public sector contracting, and enterprise sales cycles. Established network within aerospace, defence, government, military, security, public sector, or related industries. Proven ability to develop strategic partnerships and secure multi-million-dollar contracts. Experience managing complex sales cycles involving executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Exceptional leadership, communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills. Highly entrepreneurial with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Eligibility to obtain or maintain government security clearance is considered an asset. Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Aerospace, Public Administration, Technology, or a related discipline; MBA is considered an asset.
