About the role

Aboout the role:

We are currently searching for a candidate who can drive strategic project/program planning and operational execution of the Oncology Business Unit(OBU) prioritized projects and accountabilities for the OBU Medical organization interfacing at an asset or indication level with cross-functional teams across OBU. The role would include project oversight, budget management, medical planning support, cross-functional coordination and operational support to the Global Medical Team. This role would report directly to a Tumor Portfolio Director within the Strategy, Operations & External Innovation Team in OBU Medical and support the Senior Global Medical Leader (sGMAL) and their respective Teams. The position will be based in Mississauga, Canada.

The ideal candidate will be expected to work in a highly effective way with other project and medical leaders to develop integrated plans which can be delivered globally and across cross-functional boundaries. The ideal candidates can demonstrate their critical thinking, problem solving skills, ability to work collaboratively and act critically to support the broader goals of OBU Medical as a whole.

Accountabilities/responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Medical Head and GMALs (Global Medical Affairs Leaders) to support implementation of asset strategies and optimize global-to-local delivery
  • Ensure efficient functioning of the Medical Implementation Team (MIT) and strong connectivity with Integrated Business Team (IBT) to enable cross-functional execution across asset / indication
  • Lead effective meeting management (e.g., MITs, indication meetings) with clear agendas, decisions, and tracking to drive on-time milestones and deliverable development
  • Drive planning, coordination, development, and on-time delivery for key franchise team deliverables including Medical Plans, Evidence Generation plans, study proposals, launch plans, congress plans, and scientific exchange plans across the franchise and GMA
  • Facilitates overall budget and financial management supporting forecasting, spend management, and project prioritization across the business planning cycle
  • Manage budgets with monthly reviews, reconciliations, contract management, purchase orders, KPI dashboards, and compliant documentation
  • Facilitates coordination of Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) review process and committee meetings to ensure timely, high-quality proposal assessments and decisions aligned to asset strategy, funding principles, and compliance.
  • Lead external engagement planning and execution, including oversight and delivery of congress plans, coordination with agency and internal partners on key external expert meetings.
  • Develop executive-ready presentations and communications by supporting sGMALs and their team in various leadership forums and decision bodies.
  • Coordinate integrated evidence planning process and facilitate workshops at the asset/indication level coordinating with GMALs and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Drives continuous improvement on ways of working, sharing and adopting best practices to streamline business processes.
  • Partner with the Tumor Portfolio Leader by gathering and providing timely input from the asset team.
  • Ensure implementation of medical standards and compliant operations across activities and deliverables.

Required experience:

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, management, life sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare or other highly regulated industries.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Medical Affairs, Commercial, and R&D roles at a global/regional/local level
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated strategic planning, operational improvement, project/program management and execution in a global matrix with short turnaround times.
  • Detailed understanding of processes related to product lifecycle management from R&D through to commercialization
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills, driving productive meetings and discussions to outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority across functions, cultures, and business areas and guide teams towards common objectives
  • Proficient budgeting, forecasting, and financial management experience by conducting monthly financial reviews and reconciliations, handling spend, providing well-documented reports across operational areas, balance scorecard and key metrics reporting, creating purchase orders, and dashboard reports is required.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail with proficiency in Excel and Power BI tools
  • Collaborate on calendar planning, ensuring visibility and timely communications to OBU and GMA colleagues
  • Proactive, collaborative problem-solver who delivers high-quality results under tight timelines with an inquisitive, positive mindset, navigating complex stakeholders in a team-based environment.
  • Facilitate collaboration between Global, Region, and Market partners and adjacent forums (MIT, IBT) to ensure project consistency and alignment with OBU standards

Desirable for the role:

  • Graduate level degree in business or sciences degree
  • Formal qualifications in and application of project, change, and/or process management methodologies
  • Consulting/agency background with program/project management experience
  • Medical, scientific, or commercial pharmaceutical experience in the Oncology space
  • Experience working in a quality and compliance driven environment applying policies, procedures, guidelines to manage risk

  • Project delivery & execution: Leads cross-functional projects end-to-end, prioritizing delivery and managing multiple tight-deadline workstreams in fast-paced settings.
  • Stakeholder influence & change management: Builds alignment, secures decisions and resources across matrixed teams without line authority, and drives adoption across functions and geographies.
  • Process design & organizational effectiveness: Designs, standardizes, and implements scalable processes to improve efficiency and ensure consistent delivery.
  • Communication, leadership & conflict resolution: Adapts style to audience, clarifies direction, generates commitment, and resolves differences constructively.
  • Autonomy, judgment & global scientific literacy (preferred): Operates independently with sound judgment in ambiguity, brings a broad global business perspective, and is comfortable with scientific concepts.
