About the role

As Director, Transversal Business Development, you work with the Vice-President, Market Growth, Brand Expansion and Partner Relations to lead a senior business development mandate that is critical to Desjardins’ growth across Canada. As part of the Business Services division supporting Ontario, Atlantic and Western Canada, you accelerate market expansion, brand visibility and transversal growth across multiple lines of business, while respecting Desjardins’ multi-channel distribution environment and strategic priorities. You identify and advance high-value organic growth opportunities involving B2B clients, business partners, associations and organizations with complex, diverse needs. Drawing on strategic insight, strong business acumen and exceptional relationship management skills, you foster a client-first culture of collaboration and trust, connecting member and client needs with integrated Desjardins solutions, mobilizing the right internal expertise and creating momentum for multi-line business development. You identify and mobilize strategic initiatives, market development activities, events, proposals and partner engagements that affect multiple business sectors and help increase market share, revenue, brand awareness and business presence. You balance growth ambition with portfolio profitability, risk considerations, client and partner satisfaction, and long-term value creation. You act as a senior connector, specialist and expert advisor for your unit, members, clients and internal practitioners. You represent the unit before senior decision-making bodies, influence stakeholders across business lines, and help negotiate strategic agreements and product or service terms on behalf of Desjardins. Your work requires extensive knowledge of the organization, a sophisticated understanding of client needs and the ability to lead through influence in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Strategic thinking, interpersonal savvy, sound judgment and the ability to build trusted partnerships are essential to achieving shared objectives and measurable business impact. More specifically, you will be required to: Lead Desjardins’ senior transversal business development mandate across Ontario, Atlantic and Western Canada, accelerating market share, revenue growth, brand visibility and business presence across multiple lines of business. Define, assess and advance high-value transversal growth opportunities that support organic growth, revenue diversification, portfolio profitability, competitive differentiation and long-term client value. Develop and manage a senior transversal opportunity pipeline with internal partners and the Pan-Canadian business development committee, including referrals, opportunity intake, prioritization, multi-line development, risk considerations, outcomes and measurable business impact. Lead strategic, consultative discussions with prospective and existing commercial clients, partners, associations and organizations to identify complex needs, uncover synergies and connect them with integrated Desjardins expertise, solutions and distribution channels. Maintain lasting senior relationships with major clients, partners and market influencers; develop customized service offers; support cross-selling and joint-offer opportunities; and contribute to negotiating mutually beneficial agreements that balance satisfaction, profitability, risk and strategic fit. Build strong executive and cross-functional partnerships, acting as a trusted connector across business lines to foster a culture of collaboration, trust and shared accountability, remove barriers, mobilize client-first multi-line opportunities and champion pan-regional business development forums and knowledge sharing. Represent Desjardins at industry events, conferences, networking opportunities, public relations activities and partner engagements, maintaining a strong business community presence and promoting Desjardins’ cooperative model, expertise and contribution to healthy, sustainable communities. Lead or contribute to major client and partner engagements, strategic RFP submissions, proposals, event strategy and executive-level materials, coordinating senior internal contributors and follow-up to advance scalable transversal growth. Represent the unit on senior committees and decision-making bodies, establish growth objectives and governance practices, monitor action plan progress, and report on results, outcomes, risks, opportunities and business impact. Monitor industry trends, emerging opportunities, competitive developments and market shifts, and drive improvements in processes, tools, technology and ways of working to increase efficiency, collaboration, accountability and business development effectiveness.
