Harvard Developments has an immediate opening for a Retail Building Operator to join its retail team based in Edmonton. This position requires a qualified individual who thrives in a customer driven and fast paced environment reporting to the Operations Supervisor successful candidate will be responsible for working with a team of building maintenance personnel and preferred vendors in delivering customer service excellence and meeting the ever-changing challenges of maintenance management across 1.3 million square feet of commercial real estate in Edmonton.

The Building Operator will be primarily responsible for tenant service response, vendor relations, building maintenance & operations, procurement and construction management while carrying out sound energy management, environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibilities practices of a portfolio of commercial office properties.
The Building Operator will:
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience to customers within the assigned portfolio
- Respond to customer service requests within standards established for safety, comfort, cleanliness, responsiveness, follow up and communication;
- Operate the building’s automation, fire life and safety, mechanical and electrical systems;
- Maintain positive contractor relationships while overseeing contracted services such as cleaning, security, HVAC, grounds, snow removal, etc.
- Carry out the planned maintenance program for the properties; and
- Assist the management team achieve its customer, financial and organizational objectives.
What you will bring to the job:
- A high level of commitment to serving customers with availability to respond 24 hours a day when scheduled on-call;
- A valid 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency and driver’s license with a clean abstract and access to a vehicle;
- A mechanical inclination with practiced motor skills and capacity to perform physical work;
- Proficiency in the English language both written and verbal, as well as strong listening and collaborative skills that enable positive and beneficial relationships;
- Good computer literacy with experience using digital devices;
- A working knowledge of general workplace safety practices and requirements; and
- The ability to work independently or collaboratively as circumstances may dictate, using personal initiative and sound judgment to achieve purchasing guidelines, project schedules and budget.
