As Team Lead, Strategy and Reporting, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing strategic planning and business improvement initiatives, ensuring that investment decisions and project development activities are informed by analysis, aligned with corporate policies, and positioned for long-term success and value. You will also coordinate and integrate strategic planning, portfolio optimization, and business process improvements. Primary duties include:

  • Lead structured business planning processes, including strategic roadmaps, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Provide clarity on timelines and deliverables through strategic calendars and reporting frameworks.
  • Foster collaboration across service lines, engineering teams, and business units to identify opportunities, manage interdependencies, and standardize project management processes.
  • Supervise and mentor staff to build a team of trusted strategists focused on client service and collaborative delivery of facility planning solutions.
  • Lead lessons-learned activities by facilitating sessions, documenting findings and recommendations, and collaborating with Service Excellence and Corporate Process teams to implement improvements.
  • Support emergency management, labor action continuity, and risk mitigation strategies for critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business Administration, Strategic Management, Project Management, or a related field and at least 8 years of progressive and relevant experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience must include strategic planning, project management, capital budgeting, and organizational leadership.
  • An advanced degree or professional certification in a relevant discipline would be considered an asset.
  • Experience within a municipal government or public sector environment, along with experience preparing and presenting materials for senior leadership, elected officials, or Council, would be considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, political acumen, solid relationship building skills, strong communication, leadership, and the ability to translate strategic direction into actionable planning deliverables.

Workstyle

  • This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Level A2 $115,627 - 144,534 per annum

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
