The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the corporate Azure SQL and Azure Data factory data pipelines and database objects, ensuring optimized data integration and accuracy of all related data assets. The incumbent will be experienced in the areas of data warehousing, data modelling, data pipeline- and data mart development as well as data extraction methodologies.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Synapse, Notebooks).

  • Implement and manage Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) within OneLake.

  • Develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for transformation and reporting.

  • Build Python-based data workflows for automation and data processing.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity.

  • Partner with BI, data science, and business teams to deliver trusted datasets (DataMarts, Facts, Dimensions).

  • Support CI/CD deployments using Azure DevOps or Fabric deployment pipelines.

  • Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation of data assets, pipelines, and architectural decisions.

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection regulations.

  • Design and maintain scalable data models (logical and physical).

  • Develop contingency and recovery processes for business-critical data systems.

  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve and modernize the data platform.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering roles.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Fabric, including Data Factory, OneLake, Synapse, and Notebooks.

  • Deep understanding of Lakehouse architecture and Medallion frameworks.

  • Advanced SQL skills (optimization, stored procedures, data modeling).

  • Strong Python skills for data transformation and automation.

  • Experience with data warehousing and modeling across diverse data sources.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and deployment pipelines.

  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

  • Experience with Docker, Linux, and production deployments is an asset.

  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Innovative mindset, proactively seeks improvements and stays current with the evolving Fabric ecosystem.

  • Strong team player, who is punctual, reliable, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on client satisfaction.
