Summary
The HSE Manager reports to the COO, and works closely with Construction, Manufacturing, and Quality teams based in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The HSE Manager provides front-line support to the plant facility and construction sites to ensure that all safety guidelines are being adhered to.
Responsibilities
- Develop, track, analyze and communicate plant and construction safety statistics, including both leading and lagging performance indicators
- Monitor the company's compliance with applicable laws and maintain proper documentation to conform to the record-keeping requirements of all legislative bodies
- Liaise with internal and external agencies and ensure reporting requirements are met and document submittals are up to date
- Collaborate with sales personnel and customers to ensure perceptions of the Norseman's safety programs are favourable
- Respond to customer for HSE related reports, plans, programs, etc.
- Maintain Certifications, ensuring adequacy of records, training, and audit
- Provide feedback to management relative to plant and field compliance
- Provide HSE Attest training to all those that will be required to use the document
- Coordinate with Project Managers to conduct HSE Attests for work in progress
- Coordinate annual required HSE training
- Evaluate client proposals to identify non-standard HSE requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of safety experience in developing and managing health and safety related programs in an industrial or manufacturing work environment
- Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA), Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association (SCSA) National Construction Safety Officer certification or equivalent
- Solid experience in industrial safety, health and regulatory compliance
- In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislations and Workers Compensation Act
- Understanding of WCB claim filing and cost containment strategies
- Familiarity with OHSAS 18001 and Behavioural Based Safety Programs
- Experience in training and giving instruction to others
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Flexible and adaptive to change
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
Work Conditions
- Office setting, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm; occasional travel may be required
- Field work, site visits based on project and requirements
