The salary range for this position is:

  • Recruitment range: $69,052- $76,129 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
  • Performance range: $89,791 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

Mandate:
The UVic Peter B. Gustavson School of Business is committed to delivering innovative, globally focused business education and research. Its mandate is to provide learning that is creative, experiential, and internationally oriented, while emphasizing sustainability, entrepreneurship and service management.

The Recruitment and Education Advisor (REA) supports the strategic goals of the Gustavson School of Business by leading recruitment, admissions, and advising initiatives for the Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Management (MM), Master of Global Business (MGB) programs, Master of Business Administration (MBA), and PHD programs.

Reporting to the Programs Marketing and Recruitment Manager the REA ensures the effective promotion of programs, attraction of high-quality applicants, and smooth coordination of academic policies and processes in alignment with University and School standards.

Objectives:

  • Lead recruitment and marketing efforts to attract high-quality applicants to the Gustavson programs through targeted outreach, events, and collaboration with Communications and Marketing.
  • Guide and advise prospective and current students on admissions, program requirements, and academic pathways, ensuring a supportive and informed student experience.
  • Coordinate admissions processes in collaboration with the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Graduate Admissions and Records, Undergraduate Admissions and Records, and other UVic departments to ensure efficient and transparent procedures.
  • Interpret and apply academic policies at both the University and School levels, providing guidance to faculty, staff, and students to maintain consistency and compliance.
  • Represent Gustavson programs professionally at recruitment events and strategic engagements, strengthening the visibility and reputation of the BCom, MM, MGB, and MBA programs domestically and internationally.

This position will be required to travel domestically and internationally for recruitment events related to undergraduate and graduate programs. Requirements include flexibility to work long days and some weekends, holding a valid driver’s license, and holding a valid passport to gain entry to the United States and other countries.

Job Requirements

This position requires bachelor’s degree plus 3- 5 years of experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment and/or professional program including:

  • Advising to post-secondary students.
  • Experience developing digital and print marketing campaigns.
  • Experience analyzing, problem solving and resolving complex academic and administrative issues.
  • Experience using a student records database (preferably Banner).

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Ability to exercise good judgment in relation to procedures, processes, complex regulations and policies involving students, faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrated technological abilities with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, data management platforms, and CRM tools.
  • Demonstrated thorough up-to-date knowledge of domestic and international education systems.
  • Understanding of social media platforms and how they are engaged for recruitment purposes.
  • An understanding of business education practices and policies.
  • Demonstrated public speaking and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven assessment, advising, planning, and problem-solving abilities supported by strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with diverse interest holders and maintain a safe, respectful, and confidential environment for students.
  • Highly motivated, service oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively to support institutional goals and inclusive engagement.
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.

Assets or Preferences:

  • A valid passport for international travel, including to the United States.
  • A valid BC driver’s license.
  • Ability to use Salesforce, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international education systems.
  • An understanding of the responsibilities of various UVic departments (e.g. SAFA, Graduate Admissions and Records Office and University Systems, University Health Services).
  • Proficiency with a second language.
  • An understanding of Gustavson graduate academic policies, procedures, and regulations.
