Overview
Based out of the beautiful Okanagan in Kelowna, BC, the Regional District of Central Okanagan has an exciting opportunity to join our team in a new continuous full-time Human Resources and Safety Advisor position.
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, and as a valued member of a progressive human resources team, the Human Resources and Safety Advisor will provide comprehensive advisory services on human resources and safety related matters, including occupational health and safety, disability management, employee and labour relations, performance management and HR program implementation. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
Providing advice and supporting the manager in the delivery of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program;
Coordinating and maintaining OHS documentation in accordance with the collective agreement, policies, procedures and legislative requirements;
Acting as the initial disability case manager and facilitating required documentation for WorkSafeBC and short and long-term disability cases;
Preparing and providing advice on return-to-work accommodation plans;
Providing advice on employee and labour relations matters; and
Conducting research and analysis, including environmental scans and liaising with external partners.
Qualifications
You will have a degree in human resources, business administration or related field. Additionally, a minimum of four years’ progressively responsible human resources generalist experience including a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. Professional experience with health and safety in a unionized environment is considered an asset!

Work Conditions
Physical Effort: Seated position for most of the day with flexibility to move when desired. Some lifting and carrying of office supplies.
Physical Environment: Office environment.
Mental Stress: Regular exposure to competing priorities, deadlines, and sensitive and confidential situations.
Sensory Attention: Accuracy and attention to detail is extremely important. Confidentiality of personal information, tact and discretion.

This is an Exempt position that works Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. You will receive a competitive salary of $92,700 (min) - $103,000 (mid) - $113,300 (max). The RDCO’s compensation philosophy is to pay in the middle of the range for a fully qualified candidate. Some benefits are as follows: generous paid vacation, 100% Employer-covered health and paramedical benefits, an attractive pension program, professional and education development support, and a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive work culture.
