Role Description We’re looking for a sharp, detail-focused bookkeeper that is responsible for maintaining accurate, organized financial records for assigned clients. Daily tasks include recording transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, preparing financial reports, and more. The role also involves working within various accounting software platforms, addressing client questions, and collaborating with the broader support team to meet deadlines and service expectations. This position is designed for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to manage multiple client accounts in a virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities Record and categorize all business transactions Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements Manage accounts payable (vendor bills and payments) Manage accounts receivable (customer invoices and collections) Process payroll and maintain payroll records Calculate and remit payroll deductions (CPP, EI, income tax) Prepare and issue T4s and other year-end payroll slips File HST/GST returns and remit payments Track HST/GST collected and paid on expenses Maintain accurate general ledger records Record and reconcile loan, line of credit, and financing transactions Track business expenses and receipts Monitor cash flow and account balances Prepare monthly financial reports (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting

Qualifications Strong bookkeeping skills, including accurate transaction recording and account reconciliation Ability to prepare, interpret, and explain basic financial statements Proficiency with accounting software and related digital financial tools Solid understanding of finance principles and day-to-day financial operations Experience creating and reviewing journal entries (accounting) with attention to detail High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism when handling financial data Effective written and verbal communication skills in a remote work setting Previous experience supporting small businesses, entrepreneurs, or virtual clients is a plus Relevant coursework, certification, or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred
