About the role
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager, Digital Innovation and Transformation, the incumbent will be responsible for the analysis, development, integration, testing, recommendation, implementation, documentation and maintenance of new and existing systems including data integrations, analytics solutions, and enterprise reporting components, in support of systems development and enterprise-wide systems operation. The incumbent will assume a leadership role in collaborating with our enterprise systems clients in order to understand their business needs and information requirements.
The incumbent is responsible for engaging clients to understand requirements, analyzing alternative system solutions, proposing or reviewing system design to ensure requirements are met, and facilitate the implementation of system enhancements or changes. This includes solutions that support decision making through consistent, reliable, and secure use of enterprise data, while aligning with institutional standards and governance practices.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

Analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

Ability to think logically through complex procedural and systems processes.

Communication, presentation and consultation skills
-
Excellent client service and conflict resolution skills to establish effective liaison and rapport with University staff at all levels;

Tact and diplomacy;
-
Interviewing and group workshop skills;
-
A motivated self-starter with the proven ability to work independently are all essential to the position.
Assets:
- Process workflow system experience
- Packaged software implementation experience for large systems
- Experience in the design and implementation of custom developed systems
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning – ERP in Banner
- Knowledge and understanding of roles and responsibilities of each University department
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- An honours degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field
- This position requires a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience, normally acquired through several years of work on enterprise systems, data integration, and Information systems project.
- Knowledge and experience successfully developing secure enterprise grade solutions, is required.
- It is essential that this role has experience in ensuring security is embedded into every aspect of the development process, including automated workflows and integrated services.
- In addition knowledge and experience using Java Web-Based Technology, scripting languages, and HTML is required.
- Experience working with enterprise reporting, analytics, or business intelligent solutions required.
- Knowledge of Oracle development tools, SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX and technologies such as Groovy/Grails, Spring and Hibernate is an asset.
- Familiarity with enterprise data models and structured datasets is an additional asset.
- Experience in applying OWASP’s and other security-based frameworks in their development, including secure handling of data and adherence to privacy and institutional policies.
