Responsibilities

Identifying, developing, promoting, and coordinating placement based on the learning needs of students for Co-op placement through:

  • Managing student files, with placement deadlines, co-op field and location goals​
  • Building relationships with host companies and prospecting new opportunities for students​
  • Communicating with companies to help match students with appropriate hosting opportunities​
  • Vetting potential hosts and employers for relevancy to program and learning objectives ​
  • Cold calling and attending networking events​​
  • Researching, emailing and preparing mail-outs for B2B correspondence ​
  • Securing agreements with hosts sites and ongoing partnerships ​
  • Working with students to help them improve resumes, interview practice, and solve issues they may have on their placements​
  • Providing support as a liaison between students and co-op hosts; ensure understanding regarding requirements and expectations​
  • Providing weekly reports on progress to the Employment Services Coordinator​
  • Attending bi-weekly meetings to discuss at risk co-op students, and/ or host concerns​
  • Managing conflict resolution for both students and hosts ​
  • Ensuring that all prerequisites for placement are valid and in the student file​
  • Monitoring and receiving all student/ hosts co-op reports and evaluations as required by the regulators

**Supporting the College and Co-op Placements through:**​

  • File Management and Providing Campus Support, maintaining communications with ESS
  • Ensuring that all timesheets, monthly reports and evaluations are submitted in a timely manner​​
  • Encouraging program, host and student feedback on all processes and initiatives
  • ​Developing and maintaining resource materials to support co-op placement procedures

**Assists Students with their placements through:**​

  • Tracking each student’s progress and creating a student file after receiving “Co-op Documentation Checklist” from the ESS
  • Managing co-op placement file from the beginning of the placement process to completion of their program, working alongside the ESS for any support needed from the campus level​
  • Providing students with support in completing co-op placement requirements ​
  • Improving Resume writing, interview preparation and practice sessions ​​
  • On going placement follow up and check-ins with student and host

Performs other related duties as required

  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing

Qualifications and Education

  • Diploma or Degree in relevant discipline
  • At least two years’ experience in sales and customer service
  • Proven computer ability – certificate or diploma in Office software applications
  • Experience in Adult Education an asset
  • Knowledge of International Student Work Experience policies and procedures an asset
