Position Summary The Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor is responsible for ensuring that all operations and activities comply with Multiplex Construction Canada's Health Safety & Environmental policies, standards and management systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and support the implementation of the project HSE plan and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, develop, and deliver project-specific HSE training programs.
- Participate in HSE meetings and contribute relevant information; collaborate with the superintendent to identify potential discussion topics.
- Implement the HSE communication strategy across project sites.
- Anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and advise on hazard identification and mitigation strategies.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of hazard identification processes.
- Lead and conduct regular HSE inspections and audits.
- Identify specialized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and deliver associated training.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and vendors to source cost-effective PPE solutions.
- Develop and assess the effectiveness of the project emergency response plan.
- Assist project management and site supervision in developing and evaluating site-specific security protocols.
- Execute the crisis communication plan for assigned projects.
- Audit trade contractor safety performance to ensure alignment with HSE programs and standards.
- Monitor ongoing safety performance of trade contractors.
- Support the verification and review of HSE submission requirements for trade contractors.
- Implement, monitor, and support the project's HSE manual, operational procedures, safe work practices, and other related protocols.
- Build and maintain strong, customer-focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Provide indirect supervision of craft personnel, including oversight of day-to-day responsibilities.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a related industry, with direct involvement in HSE.
- Postsecondary diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification – preferred or actively pursuing.
- National Health and Safety Administrator (NHSA) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) – preferred or actively pursuing.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of construction processes and terminology.
- In-depth knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, and COR 2020™ standards.
- Effective conflict resolution skills, with the ability to influence and guide contractors and supervisors toward resolution.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to build, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technologies.

- Potential exposure to hazardous materials when visiting project sites.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, bending, light lifting, and stair climbing.
