Manning Park Resort is seeking a full-time, year-round Millwright or Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our Lift Maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working on surface lifts and aerial lifts, including:

  • 2019 Doppelmayr fixed-grip quad chair
  • 1967 Murray Latta fixed-grip double chair

This role includes maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting lift equipment, assisting Lift Operations with daily start-up and shutdown, and maintaining resort machinery such as graders, loaders, snowcats, and snowmobiles.

You must be comfortable working at heights, in all weather conditions, and at any time of day or night, depending on operational needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform duties assigned by Lift Maintenance and Operations Managers
  • Support team leadership and mentoring
  • Maintain lifts in compliance with CSA Z98 standards and manufacturer guidelines
  • Complete inspections, routine maintenance, and required documentation
  • Monitor lift operations to ensure safe performance
  • Respond promptly to faults, environmental, and weather conditions
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective mechanical components
  • Read and interpret diagrams and manufacturer manuals
  • Fit bearings, rebuild sheave trains, service grips, and perform specialized mechanical procedures
  • Maintain accurate daily records of work performed, materials used, and inventory
  • Assist with fuel and lubrication handling, storage, and disposal in accordance with provincial regulations
  • Support emergency response, including evacuations and bypass procedures
  • Identify, report, and correct unsafe conditions
  • Ensure staff working around equipment understand safety procedures and hazards
  • Follow all safety policies and OH&S requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Millwright / Industrial Mechanic Apprentice or Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to work safely in all weather conditions and at heights
  • Solid understanding of WorkSafeBC regulations
  • Must supply required basic tools

ASSETS (CONSIDERED AS ADVANTAGE)

  • 3 years related experience preferred
  • Fallen Worker Training
  • First Aid Certification
  • Passenger Ropeways and Passenger Conveyors Courses (Lift 150, 151, and/or 152)
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as graders, loaders, snowcats, snowmobiles, ATVs, and 4x4 trucks
  • Experience maintaining and repairing hydraulic systems
  • Experience maintaining and repairing 12V and 24V electrical systems
  • Ski industry experience
  • Intermediate skiing or snowboarding ability
