Senior Business Associate – CTR, CGMI and Canada Markets, Vice President
About the role
The Senior Business Associate is a senior level position within the Markets Chief Operating Office team covering Counterparty Trading & Risk (CTR), Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. (CGMI) and Canada Markets as part of NAM Markets.
The role provides business execution support with a focus on projects and strategy for three diverse coverage areas:
- The Markets CTR team is responsible for credit, funding and capital implications with respect to all trading counterparties and includes XVA Trading, In-Business Credit Risk Management, and Capital Management.
- CGMI is Citi's primary US Broker-Dealer supporting Citi’s Markets, Banking and Wealth businesses.
- The NAM Markets team supports Markets’ business activities in the United States and Canada. The team provides strategic and coordination support across Markets product teams in NAM and globally and ensures representation of the region in a variety of Markets initiatives, forums, and business activities. In this area, the role will include support of Markets’ Canada franchise and senior management as well as Canadian legal entity management and governance.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate proven ability to work together with multiple stakeholders across Markets, Banking and International including the Canada Chief Country Office, Wealth, Compliance, Finance, HR, Data, Operations, Technology, Risk, Legal, and Internal Audit. The candidate must be able to work independently and effectively in a cross-functional environment without close supervision and with colleagues who may not be in the same geographic location.
The role requires strong analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills that rely on influence and building effective partnerships to execute our business plans and controls in a systematic, measurable, and effective way.
The role will be based in Toronto co-located with Canada Markets senior management and work in close coordination with colleagues in New York, London and elsewhere in Europe.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with a broad business execution remit and skillset to assist CTR, CGMI, and NAM with projects and strategic initiatives.
- Assist leadership and stakeholders with developing projects, determining strategies, and defining/providing metrics
- Advance control framework including executing Manager’s Control Assessment testing, operational loss processes, and corrective actions
- Prepare materials, record minutes, and follow-up as needed on items for business committees and/ or regular business meetings
- Seek out sources, track, consolidate and analyze ad-hoc and regular business requests
- Drive implementation of business-driven projects across functions, working closely with relevant senior leadership
- Provide input into and recommend technology change, process improvements and control framework enhancements
- Seek out and ensure corrective actions are implemented for control related issues and remedial action is taken
- Communicate business knowledge, product knowledge, and requirements to business and internal support functions
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 6-10 years of experience in a financial services or consulting
- Demonstrated working knowledge of financial services industry; Global Markets experience preferred
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree/University degree
