CAPITAL PLANNING & OPERATIONS

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | 1-Year Term Leave Replacement | Fredericton | On Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm |36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $53,482 - $69,514 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director of Sustainability, the Energy & Climate Officer assists with the implementation of bi-campus work that supports UNB's energy, sustainability and carbon neutrality goals.

Collect sustainability data such as GHG inventory and waste.

Manage fleet inventory.

Prepare and run Sustainability Month events.

Design, plan, and execute events, including speaker coordination, outreach, and venue arrangements.

Communicate with members and partners, coordinating their engagement with UNB Sustainability.

Write and edit program materials, fundraising proposals, grant applications, informational documents, and press materials.

Conduct research on climate change issues such as water infrastructure best practices, GHG reduction strategies, and targets established by other institutions.

Coordinate, facilitate, and report on programs that support the Climate Change Action Plan.

Complete monthly utility tracking, variance updates, and verification monitoring.

Update energy intensity graphs, steam, and energy models.

Assist with preparing utility budgets and establish budgets for energy projects, including savings calculations and payback analysis.

Reconcile completed energy projects and identify annual budget requirements for metering.

Prepare financial charts, spreadsheets, and graphs to track and manage campus utilities.

Maintain and update external funding sources and incentives.

Attend and document energy management program meetings.

Identify opportunities for energy projects and conduct wastewater audits.

Research and recommend demand-side management strategies.

Complete government reporting such as CAC, NPRI, and GHG submissions, and prepare the annual Energy Management Program report.

Liaise with the Projects Group to track and inspect energy projects under development, providing financial, milestone, and status updates.

Submit and track applications for incentives with Efficiency NB and federal agencies, providing updates as required.

Monitor utilities and emissions data, investigate anomalies, and recommend corrective actions.

Prepare technical submissions for approval of new energy projects and reconciliation reports.

Record and publish minutes of Energy Management Committee meetings.

Prepare emission reports for federal, provincial, and municipal departments.

WHAT YOU BRING

Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as engineering or environmental management.

Experience working with energy and climate related data.

Experience in planning, cost estimating, problem-solving, maintenance management systems and general maintenance of utility systems in a University Setting.

Additional Strengths:
Energy efficiency training or certifications such as LEED or CEM.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
