About the role
Hybrid work schedule - 4 days in office - Montreal office The translator-revisor revises the legal aspects of a range of French and English translations in various areas of the law. They will serve as a dual‑qualified legal and linguistic expert, reviewing, editing, and occasionally translating specialized legal texts, such as securities, commercial contracts, and financial market documents. They ensure consistency, precision, and legal accuracy, collaborating within a multidisciplinary team
You Will Be Focusing On
- Revise, from a legal standpoint, the French and English translations produced by the team for the firm's clients in order to provide a translation opinion, if necessary, in legal and financial areas and meet often very tight deadlines
- Provide translators with feedback and discusses same, as needed
- Manage complex client files, including:
- Receiving client requests and providing client service, from beginning to end of file
- Coordinating the translation mandates with translators, proofreaders and assistants until the work is delivered to the client
- Liaising with external clients, printers, lawyers and other mandate stakeholders
- Liaising with freelancers and external service providers
- Taking responsibility for the decisions pertaining to the processes, the legal terminology to be used and the budget for the matter
- Conduct the necessary terminology research and take all necessary measures to deliver a high-quality translation
- Serving as the contact for the client during the performance of the matter
- Billing fees as per the established client budget
What You Bring To The Role
- Bachelor of Law degree (major asset)
- Bachelor’s degree or a post graduate Diploma in Translation
- Experience as a legal translator for at least 5-10 years, translating and revising documents relating to business and commercial law
- Sound grasp of the financing, accounting and securities sectors
- Relevant experience in Linguistic Services an advantage
- Excellent command of French and English
- Familiarity with AI platforms, CAT tools and translation management systems (TMS) an advantage
- Strong and unwavering focus on language quality, clarity and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and outside regular office hours
- Ability to manage a team seamlessly, with equanimity and self-confidence
- Team player, detail-oriented, thorough and organized
- Strong communication skills
- Superior interpersonal and client management skills

Its clientele is also international, so we must be able to provide services in English and in French. As a result, a good working knowledge of both languages is required, since you will communicate frequently with managers and/or colleagues in other provinces or countries and/or will serve our clients in both languages.
