Responsibilities Venue & Festival Operations:
- Assist Sustainability Manager in execution of comprehensive zero waste plans for Rogers Stadium, RBC Amphitheatre, and related festival operations with actionable goals, improvement areas, a current map and material flow, and a tracking system for accountability.
- Oversee and assist with the back of house material sorting process of all recycling, composting, reuse, and donations materials to increase resource recovery and diversion from landfill.
- Be present on show days and non-show days to manage teams and drive vendor and sponsorship requirements to ensure compliance of materials entering the waste stream.
- Manage daily operations to ensure all materials entering the waste stream meet venue and partner requirements and provide comprehensive reporting on metrics.
- Conduct audits to validate data from waste partners and use findings to address seasonal challenges in on-site sorting practices.
- Help to execute partner sustainability programs on-site, such as food recovery with community partners and in collaboration with other departments.
- Foster a positive, engaging atmosphere around waste operations for fans and partners.
- Other tasks as assigned by the National Sustainability Manager including but not limited to local community and vendor engagement.
Training & Engagement
- Participate in ongoing training - pre-season, mid-season, and 1-on-1 sustainability meetings to report progress and align on initiatives.
- Be on-site during set up to ensure zero waste procedures are in place at venues and festivals.
- Provide ongoing updates to venue staff to share progress, celebrate successes, and highlight improvements.
Reporting And Data Collection
- Utilize Microsoft Office (primarily Word, Excel, and SharePoint), Google Drive, and Box programs to track and report on key program metrics.
- Collect weight tickets and chain of custody documentation from haulers and recovery vendors.
- Maintain required tracking spreadsheets at least monthly, document operations with photos, and create visual and written reports, including monthly leadership updates and a post-season survey.
Qualifications
- Post Secondary degree in a relevant field (Environmental Sciences, Event Management, etc…)
- At least 1 year in a leadership position in one of the following: operations/event coordination, Guest Services and communications, event, or campus sustainability/zero waste events.
- Show days require about 90% of the time spent walking, bending, reaching, stooping, lifting, and carrying 50+ lbs. with about 50% of that time spent helping/overseeing the sorting of materials.
- Creative thinker and problem solver.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Acute sense of judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
- A strong sense of teamwork and ability to execute programs.
- Time management and the ability to excel in an unstructured environment.
- Passion for driving environmental impact through both hands-on and administrative work.

Responsibilities Venue & Festival Operations:
