UNCERTIFIED TEACHERS TEACHING ON CALL - MCBRIDE AND VALEMOUNT, BC - SD No. 57

Our District is seeking enthusiastic individuals to work as CASUAL Uncertified Teachers Teaching on Call in McBride, BC & Valemount, BC. Applicants will preferably have a minimum of three years of post-secondary education at the university level, along with a variety of recent experiences working with either children or teens in a coaching, mentoring or employment capacity.

This posting is specific to individuals willing to work in the rural communities of McBride, BC & Valemount, BC.

McBride, BC is a village of 600 people located 209 km southeast of Prince George, BC and 166 km northwest of Jasper, AB.

Valemount, British Columbia is located 292 km. southeast of Prince George, British Columbia. It is a town of approximately 1000 people.

Applicants must be prepared to work on a casual on call basis in any school in their geographical area. A reliable vehicle/transportation is essential to this role.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant must have:

  • Knowledge of Ministry of Education’s redesigned curriculum and core competencies.
  • Evidence of appropriate qualifications and/or experience in working with children.
  • understanding of inclusionary, differentiation and assessment practices.
  • Knowledge of First Nations Principles and the Principles of Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Understanding how to support the social emotional regulation of children.
  • A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment and evidence of strong organization and ability to manage groups of children.
  • A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting.
  • commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into your work environment.
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community.
  • A current, valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel as required.

Compensation

  • Up to $1,000 relocation allowance for teachers’ relocation from within BC; Up to $1,500 for teachers relocating from AB, SK & MB; and up to $2,000 for teachers relocating from all other provinces and out of country.
  • Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $49,769 - $95,681. Salary is based on TQS and prior experience.
  • Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in Dental, Extended Health, and Group Life Insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE

About School District 57

School District No.57 resides on the unceded ancestral lands of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nations, McLeod Lake Indian Band and the Simpcw First Nations.

Geographically we expand from Mackenzie, through Prince George, to McBride and Valemount. We serve 41 schools: 32 Elementary schools, 8 Secondary schools and 1 District Learning Support center for alternative and alternate learning opportunities.

We provide educational programs for approximately 15,000 students inclusive of early learning, after school art and sports programing, trades programs, and dual credit programs with our local post-secondary schools.

We support Lheidli T’enneh students, McLeod Lake students and Takla students living on reserve through our Local Education Agreements. With each Nation we co-construct the educational services provided to the students while attending a school within our school district.
