About the role

The Millwright is responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing equipment and building systems operate at peak efficiency. They troubleshoot and repair equipment to keep production running

safely and producing quality products at target speed. Using their knowledge and experience they provide insight to improve equipment to deliver better performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly to repair equipment and components to minimize downtime
  • Work closely with Production Supervision, Process Engineering and management to
  • determine priorities and courses of action to improve uptime, product quality and employee safety
  • Plan and perform maintenance activities for shutdowns
  • Lead the improvement of our preventative maintenance system
  • Assist in the implementation of new PM software and use it to control and record maintenance activities
  • Perform PM activities on a timely basis and keep records of the activity and the components used
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts
  • Keep all tools and machine shop equipment in workable condition
  • At all times work in a manner that maintains the safety of themselves and others
  • Maintain safety guards on equipment
  • Work extra hours as required to keep production equipment running
  • Respond to calls after hours as required to support production
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • String ability to troubleshoot and problem solve equipment issues
  • Ability to plan, organize, multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the OHSA, machine safeguarding and safety procedures
  • Strong listening and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Understanding of PLC’s and automated equipment
  • Experience with personal computers.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • High Initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, accountability, reliability and strong leadership

Education and Experience

  • Licensed industrial millwright
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of motors, pumps, valves, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, automated manufacturing equipment
  • Certification as an industrial electrician is an asset
  • Ability to read CAD drawings in an asset
  • Working knowledge of robot troubleshooting is an asset (ABB)

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to wear the appropriate PPE required, such as a respirator, for the environment location (i.e. departments - production, packaging, glue hut etc.)
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • The individual possesses fine hand manipulation (keyboarding) skills.
  • Complete a pre-employment medical and/or pulmonary testing etc, as required.

Manufacturing environment

  • The temperature will vary from hot to cold, depending on the weather and location.
    • Must be able to adapt to the noise level of a manufacturing setting, which is usually moderate to heavy.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, printer/scanner, and filing cabinets.
