Where You’ll Make a Difference Every Day

As an Industrial Millwright – Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), you’ll play a key role in keeping Thunder Bay’s wastewater facilities running safely and efficiently. Our team is committed to protecting the integrity of environment by providing primary and secondary wastewater treatment, phosphorus and ammonia removal and sludge digestion for the City of Thunder Bay. We provide innovative and cost-effective ways to sustain and manage our wastewater treatment process.

How You’ll Keep Systems Running Safely

As an Industrial Millwright at the City of Thunder Bay Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), you will:

  • Perform maintenance as assigned, or as outlined by the Preventative Maintenance System.
  • Operate valves, pumps, generators, controls and other equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain and input information into the Preventative Maintenance System by entering work performed, parts used, and time required to perform work on work orders.
  • Monitor assigned equipment, identify and report equipment wear, abnormalities, breakdowns, and repairs required.
  • Repair or replace equipment or parts that break down or show wear or malfunction.
  • Recommend improvements for plant equipment and participate in installations.
  • Perform general building and grounds repairs as required.
  • Obtain necessary parts, supplies, and tools, from inventory, and is accountable for their return, or assignment to Work Orders. Recommend spare parts for inventory.
  • Update plant drawings and manuals.

What You Bring to the Team

Here’s what will help you succeed as an Industrial Millwright at the Water Pollution Control Plant:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent as per the Ministry of Environment certification guidelines
  • Journeyman Certification as an Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) in Ontario
  • Must have proven practical experience in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of machinery such as conveyors, pumps, piping, valves, compressors and other industrial machinery
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering, construction and mechanical drawings
