About the role

If you’re committed to making a meaningful impact on gender equality and women’s empowerment, we’d love to have you on board!

**This 12 months volunteer assignement is based in Kigali, Rwanda, for individuals who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

In Rwanda, CECI is dedicated to enhancing the economic empowerment of vulnerable women, including farmers, breeders, heads of households, young mothers, and those living in refugee camps or engaged in cross-border trade. While significant strides have been made in gender equality, particularly at the political level, more efforts are needed at the household level. CECI volunteers collaborate with civil society organizations to boost economic opportunities for women and work with women's rights groups to foster a supportive environment for gender equality. If you're passionate about driving positive change and supporting women's rights, consider joining our mission in Rwanda!

Our partner: The primary partner organization (under contract) for this assignment is the Association of Kigali Women in Sports (AKWOS) but the volunteer will also support other partner organizations, including, but not limited to Save Generation, INGABO SYNDICATE and Association de coopération et de recherche pour le développement (Accord). In collaboration with AKWOS, develop tools that promote gender equality and women's empowerment, including educational resources, training materials, and capacity-building programs aimed at fostering gender equality across various domains. Support the organization of training sessions and train the AKWOS team and members to ensure the effective dissemination of gender equality principles and practices within the cluster. Assist INGABO SYNDICATE in incorporating gender equality into its programs and activities. Support Save Generation in designing innovative strategies and programs aimed at promoting gender equality, with a particular focus on empowering women and young women within those organizations. Organize training sessions and awareness campaigns for the staff of partner organizations, community members, and other stakeholders to foster a deep understanding of gender-related issues. Organize training, sharing, and learning sessions on gender equality for communities of practice at the national and regional levels. Contribute to the integration of gender perspectives into programs and initiatives implemented by partners, including policies and various developed strategies and tools. Support partner organizations in establishing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to measure the impact of gender equality initiatives and adjust existing intervention approaches. Actively collaborate with external partners, women's rights organizations, and other key stakeholders to strengthen efforts toward gender equality. Encourage and mobilize the staff of partner organizations to promote gender equality and women's rights by participating in the development of an inclusive and equitable organizational culture.
