About The Role As a Vice President at ATB Capital, you will maintain primary responsibility for underwriting and managing a portfolio of Mezzanine and Subordinated Debt transactions for ATB’s existing client base as well as for new relationships from a broad cross section of Diversified Industries.

Accountabilities

  • Underwriting of complex junior debt transactions to facilitate leveraged buy-outs, corporate acquisitions, management buy-outs and leveraged recapitalizations.
  • Together with the Director, complete due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships.
  • Client visits, analysis of financial and business models, and comprehensive review of industry trends and related regulations.
  • Performing detailed financial analyses. Stress testing and modeling on historical and projected financial results.
  • Conduct market and industry research, benchmark analyses, compile data
  • Participate in the preparation of credit documentation (i.e. including applications, legal documentation, presentations, etc.) for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in legal documentation negotiation and review.
  • Maintain strong and effective working relationships with colleagues in both Business Banking and Corporate Banking to ensure a seamless and smooth client experience.
  • Review and continually monitor performance of existing accounts and client relationships to ensure that portfolio health is maintained.
  • Oversee a robust portfolio management process that encompasses reporting, covenant compliance and overall portfolio performance.
  • Consider risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or another business-related focus.
  • 5+ years of related commercial or corporate banking experience including origination, underwriting and oversight of subordinated and mezzanine debt structures.
  • MBA, CFA, CBV and/or a CPA would be a definite asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to review extensive and complicated reports and distill key findings into executive summaries efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to learn and apply complex concepts quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated track record of meeting deadlines and effective time management when managing multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Exceptional analytical and financial analysis skills.
