About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Executive to drive new business growth within the logistics and third-party logistics industry. This is a senior, results-focused sales role for an established transportation professional with a strong network, a proven record of winning profitable accounts, and extensive experience selling flatbed transportation, oversized freight, specialized project cargo, or related logistics services. The successful candidate must have at least 10 years of industry experience and previous experience working within a 3PL environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across Canada and the United States Develop relationships with shippers requiring flatbed, oversized, over-dimensional, specialized, and project-based transportation services Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified prospects Generate leads through cold outreach, industry relationships, referrals, networking, and market research Meet with prospective clients to understand their transportation requirements, service challenges, and long-term logistics needs Prepare customized transportation solutions, proposals, pricing strategies, and presentations Negotiate rates, contracts, service agreements, and commercial terms Work closely with operations, carrier procurement, pricing, and customer service teams to ensure solutions are operationally achievable and profitable Maintain accurate sales activity, opportunity, and forecasting information within the company’s CRM Monitor market conditions, customer activity, competitor offerings, and industry trends Represent the company at industry events, conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings Support the successful onboarding and transition of new accounts to the operations team Maintain strong relationships with clients after onboarding and identify opportunities to expand account revenue

What You Bring

Minimum of 10 years of business development, sales, or account management experience within the transportation and logistics industry Previous experience working within a third-party logistics or 3PL environment Demonstrated experience selling flatbed transportation services Experience with oversized, over-dimensional, heavy-haul, specialized, or project-based freight Proven track record of generating new business and meeting or exceeding revenue and margin targets Established network of shippers, manufacturers, distributors, construction companies, project contractors, or industrial clients Strong understanding of transportation pricing, carrier capacity, freight lanes, margins, and market conditions Ability to understand complex transportation requirements and develop customized logistics solutions Strong prospecting, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills Commercially minded, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a performance-driven environment Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a large sales pipeline and multiple opportunities Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and related sales technology Ability to travel for client meetings, industry events, and business development activities as required

Preferred Experience

Cross-border transportation experience between Canada and the United States Experience working with construction materials, steel, machinery, industrial equipment, building products, energy, infrastructure, or manufacturing clients Knowledge of permits, escorts, route planning, securement requirements, and compliance considerations associated with oversized or specialized freight Existing book of business or transferable industry relationships Experience selling additional services such as dry van, refrigerated, drayage, warehousing, intermodal, freight brokerage, or managed transportation
