Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Program
St. Joseph's Hospital - London, ON
Temporary Full Time
Salary Range: $39.07 - $56.00 /hour
Temporary employment anticipated to extend until October 30, 2026, subject to the availability of work.
The Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence (SADV) Program at St. Joseph's Hospital London provides services and supports to victims (women, men and children) who have experienced a recent sexual assault and/or domestic violence. The service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week providing emergency medical and nursing care, forensic evidence collection and documentation, crisis counseling, safety planning, medical counseling and community referral and follow up.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Valid CPR certificate
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA
- Recent crisis counseling experience within last two years
- Knowledge about aseptic techniques and routine infection control precautions
- Knowledge of interpersonal violence and its impact on health and wellness
- Experience dealing with victims of violence
- Experience in teaching assault/abuse victims and their families
- Demonstrated expertise in decision making, critical thinking and clinical problem solving
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in physical assessment and soft tissue trauma
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to utilize computer applications
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, listening and teaching)
- Ability to provide non-judgmental supportive care to survivors of sexual assault/domestic violence
- Able to work well under stress
- Willing and able to take call and arrive to at the hospital within 30 min. of call
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- Baccalaureate level preparation
- Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E.) training
- Experience in the collection and documentation of forensic evidence
- Experience in the photo documentation of injuries
- Experience supporting victims of sexual assault and domestic violence
- Knowledge and experience in STI protocol including HIV PEP
- Knowledge and experience with safety planning
- Experience in providing presentations
- Knowledge and experience with PowerPoint and Excel
Teaching and Research

Immunization Requirements
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
