About the role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead the business development team, drive new business growth, and expand existing accounts. This role is responsible for structured pipeline management, accurate forecasting, and ensuring the team delivers consistent prospecting, qualification, and closing activities. The successful candidate will bring proven leadership experience, strong sales acumen, and the ability to coach and develop a high-performing team in a technical or industrial environment.

Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To

  • Lead and develop the Outside Sales/Business Development team, ensuring consistent execution of prospecting, qualification, and closing activities
  • Establish clear performance expectations, activity goals, and revenue targets for team members
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions, joint client visits, and performance evaluations
  • Deliver training on consultative selling, objection handling, CRM best practices, and technical product knowledge
  • Oversee the commission program, validate opportunity data, and ensure transparency in performance metrics
  • Monitor pipeline health through weekly reviews, analyzing opportunity progression, win/loss trends, and overall funnel performance
  • Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly forecasts using CRM insights and field data
  • Collaborate with Marketing to plan and execute trade shows, industry events, and networking initiatives
  • Identify new markets, strategic accounts, and high-potential growth opportunities
  • Support team members during client discovery, proposal development, pricing strategies, and negotiations
  • Maintain strong relationships with key accounts and ensure exceptional post-sale experiences
  • Track industry trends and competitor activity, translating insights into actionable strategies for pricing, marketing, and product development
  • Work closely with Inside Sales, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marketing to align sales efforts with organizational capabilities

Your strengths include:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Proven experience leading a business development team with structured pipeline management and forecasting
  • Extensive background in Outside Sales or similar client-facing roles, ideally in technical or industrial environments
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
  • Understanding of technical products and industrial systems
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events
