The City of Nelson is seeking an experienced and technically skilled GIS Analyst to support the City's ESRI Geographic Information System (GIS) and spatial data initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the IT Manager, the ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, converting, normalizing and visualizing geographic data to inform decision-making across City departments. This role requires proficiency in GIS software, spatial analysis, and data management, along with strong communication skills to translate complex data structures and concepts into meaningful solutions. Under the direction of the IT Manager, the GIS Analyst serves as a key technical resource in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the City's GIS. The GIS Analyst coordinates GIS solutions and workflows for users across City departments and maintains City-wide spatial data and applications for office, field, and public use.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, or IT with a minimum of three years of GIS experience. or

A technical GIS College Diploma with a minimum of five years GIS experience.

A combination of education and experience may also be considered. Local Government or Municipal GIS experience will be considered an asset.
COMPENSATION: $43.27 per hour, per the CUPE 339 Collective Agreement
HOURS: Regular Full-Time | 37.5 hours per week
DAYS: Monday - Thursday
